How To Adjust Cabinet Drawers — A Beginner’s Guide

Cabinets and cabinet drawers can do a lot more than store jars of jams and honey. They provide visual appeal and are often made sturdy and spacious for convenience and ease.

However, there are a lot of factors to consider when adjusting or installing cabinets and cabinet drawers. For example, if your cabinets and cabinet drawers are made up of wood, or if you have bamboo kitchen cabinets — odds are they will shrink, expand, or do both over time.

This is brought on by dry or humid environments and can adversely affect the functioning of your cabinet drawers. In case of humidity, the cabinet drawers expand at their sides just enough to cause them to bind at the top.

In the case of dry air, the opposite would occur. Hence, dry air causes drawer boxes to lose their moisture content and shrink. This, in turn, causes the glide wheels to move from their initial placement.

When we talk about how to adjust cabinet drawers, we refer to accommodating these changes by replacement on the glides or screwing them back into place.

Taking Kitchen Cabinet Adjustments:

Move the drawer all through the cabinet. Check the separating between the drawer and the cabinet at the top and base. If the drawer rubs on the cabinet face outline at the top, expel the drawer from the cabinet.

Relax the screw in the molded opening at the front of the two sides of the drawer guides. Utilize a Phillips-tip screwdriver. The drawer aides are on the two sides of the drawer at the base. The screw in the oval-molded opening merely is behind the drawer front. Slacken it somewhat yet don’t evacuate it. Expel the rest of the fastens the aides, yet leave the one at the back flawless.

Tap the aides up if the drawer rubs at the top. This will cut the drawer down. The guide will move inside the oval-molded opening. Move the two sides similarly. Fix the screw in the oval-formed opening somewhat.

Place the drawer once more into the cabinet. Slide it all through the cabinet. Verify whether the drawer rubs at the top. Evacuate the drawer and tap the guide up or down as required until the drawer floats effortlessly. Fix the screw in the oval-formed gap, embed the first screws that you expelled from the two sides, and fix them.
